93 % of the mining pit/capital construction operations at the Birzulovo ilmenite deposit were completed

93 % of the mining pit/capital construction operations have been completed at the Birzulovo titanium ore deposit (Novomirgorod district, Kirovograd region). Hence, “Velta”, the company which is developing the deposit, intends to put into operation the facility for the mining and processing of the ilmenite concentrate in November 2011.

“As of today we have completed 93 % of the mining pit/capital construction operations that were scheduled for the first stage of the project implementation. The activities included stripping and storage of almost 1.25 mln cu.m of the overburden. So, the current depth of the open pit has reached 22 m”, said Andriy Brods’ky general director of the “Velta”Company.

The work on the other sites of the facility is at the final stage, too. The mobile pumping unit has been put into operation, the delivery of the last pieces of equipment to the plant (the screw separators of the “Multotech” Co.) is expected soon.

Note: The Company “Velta” (Dniepropetrovsk) was established in 2000 with the purpose of developing the Birzulovo ilmenite deposit in the vicinity of the Korobchino village, Novomirgorod district, Kirovograd region. The Company general director and initiator of the deposit development is Andriy Brods’ky. The total amount of the project investments is 70 mln USD. The planned staff of the mining and beneficiation facility is 450 people.
