The company (Kirovograd region, Novomirgorod district) started preparing the roads of the district for the winter season. Besides other materials, to this end the sand will be used which is a component of the raw materials extracted during mining and processing of ilmenite at the mining and beneficiation facility operating on the Birzulovo deposit. The sand will form a component for coating of the ice-covered road surfaces.

Andriy Brodsky, general director of the “Velta” company, explained: “The company was requested by the Novomirgorod district administration and by the Novomirgorod branch of the State agency of the Automobile roads of Ukraine to render such help in preparing the roads of the district for the winter season. Besides, it was requested to provide 600 cubic meters of sand for the district. We agreed to supply the raw material without any payment since the road conditions in the district is a very painful issue for the local residents, especially in winter time, when they are actually impassable sometimes”.

It is important to note that the sands of the Birzulovo ilmenite deposit undergo several stages of beneficiation whereafter the ore mineral is separated from the burden. The latter after the removal of impurities consists of the clean sand which is stored in special areas and comprises a valuable material for the construction engineering.
